MICHAŁ ROSIAK
flute

Michal – born in Poland in 1977 — has ex­ten­sive ex­pe­ri­ence in teach­ing, per­for­mance & com­po­si­tion. An in­ductee into the Aus­tralian mu­sic scene, he has spent most of his ca­reer to date in Eu­rope where he has won many ac­co­lades for his com­po­si­tions and teach­ing, as well as be­ing prin­ci­pal Flautist with Opole Phil­har­mon­ic Or­ches­tra in Poland, mem­ber of ES­PRIT Flute Trio and a flute teach­er in Chopin State School of Mu­sic in Opole.

Michal has been a prizewin­ner of var­i­ous com­pe­ti­tions in­clud­ing the In­ter­na­tion­al Fes­ti­val for Young Mu­si­cians in Neer­pelt / Bel­gium (1st Prize sum­ma cum laude), the 25th Pol­ish Com­pe­ti­tion for Cham­ber Mu­sic in Wro­claw / Poland, the 2nd & 3rd Na­tion­al Com­pe­ti­tion for Young Com­posers in Tarnow / Poland, the schol­ar­ship of the Pol­ish Min­istry of Cul­ture and the All Flutes Plus Lon­don schol­ar­ship.

Michal has per­formed as a soloist with the Sile­sian Phil­har­mon­ic Or­ches­tra, Capel­la Cra­covien­sis, Hei­del­berg­er Kam­merorch­ester and Cham­ber Phil­har­mo­nia Cologne. He has ap­peared as a flautist with the Aus­tralian Army Band, The Queens­land Or­ches­tra, Cam­er­a­ta of St John and Ade­laide Art Or­ches­tra.

He has also been a flute & en­sem­ble tu­tor for the South Aus­tralian State Mu­sic Camp and the Queens­land Youth Or­ches­tra.

He is a guest artists at the Aus­tralian Flute Fes­ti­val in Can­ber­ra. His com­po­si­tion “Scher­zo” has been a com­pul­so­ry piece for the en­sem­ble com­pe­ti­tion at the Aus­tralian Flute Fes­ti­val in Ade­laide in 2009 His mu­sic has been per­formed in Poland, Ger­many, Great Britain, Switzer­land, Bel­gium, Rus­sia, Unit­ed States, New Zealand and Aus­tralia and has also been broad­cast by ABC Clas­sic.
